3 game

Playname : 3 game - quick hitters

1

At times a Quick Hitter is needed to free the offense, or take advantange of defense.

This first quick hitter is called Dive or 15. It involves only the 1 & 5. 1 passes to 5 (a safe pass sense the defense is usually playing behind 5.) As 1 passes he dives to the open side of the lane for a quick hand off or drop pass. This is a great option when 1 is being guarded tightly. Speed is the key.

Also if 1 is not free on the dive move, then 5 can fake the handoff and quickly spin pivot into the lane to drive. If 4's defender comes up to help, 5 can dump the pass to 4 for the easy score.

2

Another quick hitter is DOWN

Here 1 passes to 2. As he does 3 and 4 exchange positions, and 5 goes down to the block opposite of 3 & 4.

3

As 2 receives the pass he passes the ball back quickly. 1 now swings the ball, quickly to 4 on the wing.

As the ball is being swung, as soon as 3 hits the low block he turns and quickly gets out to a vertical line of sight with 4.

4

4 now passes the ball down to 3.

5

4 follows the pass to 3 with an "on ball pick." 3 and 4 then go pick and roll off the base line. If 3 is stopped coming over the top with the dribble 2 and 1 are set for 3 PT shots, and 3 & 4 join 5 for inside rebounding position on any 3 point shots attempted.

Down is a great quick hitter when you need to reverse the ball, without involving the whole team.
