3 game

Playname : 3 game - sets

1

There are a number of ways to get into the motion.

BOX SET

In this case 2 will fly up (as shown) 5 will step in (as shown), 3 will fly out. 4 will remain where he is due to the first pass going to the left.

2

25

We call this set 25. The numbers are for the players involved in the set. First number is always the low man in a stack. Note we enter into 3 Game very easily out of this set. The advantage is that now 1 can pass to either 2 or 3. 4 adjusts as per the rule to being opposite of the first pass, and 5 can easily tell which side to set his high post pick due to the fact he can see the pass as he is coming up to the free throw lane.

3

STACK

This set is called stack because of the double stack. Note the ease again of getting right into 3 Game. This set works well also as an isolation for 1. He can go one on one and as he comes into the lane players can adjust. If this happens we have 5 hold his place instead of coming up so 1 has full advantage of the lane.

4

HI-LO

At times this set is helpful. Note we put the 5 under the 2 at the elbow of the lane. This serves two purposes. It allows 2 to fly out with ease, and 5 can post to the middle of the lane. 3 can fly up from his position.

At times we will call this 44. It sounds like HI-LO, but on the movement we have 4 go to the low block opposite of 3 as 3 flys up. 1 hits 3, and moves, as 5 diagional cuts and picks off 1's defender with great ease.

In HI-LO we keep the 4 at home and let them adjust as needed. In 44 we teach 4 to wait until 3 is on the move. Often a cheating defender will try to help and 4 is left standing open on the opposite block for a quick pass from 1 or 3.
