Junior Domestic Competition Details

Greenvale teams compete in the Broadmeadows Basketball Association's Junior Domestic competition. Teams range in age from Under 8 to Under 18. The Under 8 competition is mixed (boys and girls), from Under 10 upwards the competition is split into separate competitions for boys and girls.

Competition is on Saturdays beginning at 9.00am and running through to about 4.30pm. Generally speaking, the younger the age group, the earlier the start. For example an Under 8 team might expect 9.00am, 9.50am or 10.40am games, an U16 team might expect 2.00pm, 2.50pm or 3.40pm games.

To qualify for a certain age group the player must be under that age at 31st December of the year in which the season starts. So to be able to play U12, the player must still be 11 years of age at 31st December.

The competition is played at a number of venues in the Broadmeadows, Westmeadows, Gladstone Park, Greenvale areas.

The Greenvale Grizzlies currently run 31 teams in the Junior Domestic competition.

Teams train once per week (one hour session). All coaching staff are volunteers, primarily parents.

There are two seasons per year. The Summer season runs from late September through February, the Winter season runs March through August. There is a break from mid-December through to late January and competition is also not held on the middle weekend of other school term holidays.

What Does It Cost To Play ?

There are three components to the cost of playing. The first is the Greenvale player registration fees. These are currently set at $50 per season per player when paid on or before registration day. These fees cover the cost of the club hiring the training venue, registering our teams in the B.B.A. competitions and other miscellaneous costs.

The second component is the purchase of the playing Uniform. This is compulsory for all clubs competing in the B.B.A. competitions. See pricing in Uniforms & Clothes .

The third component is match costs. Each team must pay $40 for the team sheet prior to the match and there is a $2.00 entry fee into the venue (players and spectators). Please note that you are only required to pay entry for the first venue on any one day, so if you have more than one game to go to, be sure to get a pass-out (stamp or ticket) for subsequent games. These charges cover the cost of venue hire on game day, referees and venue managers.
